英雄从来都是有苦衷的，因为有畏惧，有内心真正渴望的东西，才会付出全力去争取。 中途叛变的那个战争男孩，一心想要得到“不死老乔”的肯定，让自己的名字在所有人面前被念出来，被崇敬被夸奖。而在运输车上被其中一个妻子点醒后，他道出了内心的脆弱，看到了自己真实的想法和事情本来的面貌。他扛枪，他正面出击以保护大家，他主动修理机车，揽下最危险的工作。而所有的妻子也没有令人失望，虽然只能躲在车肚子里，不会开车也不会打架：虽然因为装子弹不熟练，让大家险些挨枪：虽然在第一个人丧生后，想要放弃，但她们，也用自己坚强的信念，和母亲的身份，一路激励着主演团队向前。不可为而为之，是真英雄。
女主是整部片子最让人佩服的人，资源匮乏的世界，女人也要撑起一片天。命脉的维系靠女人，村子的第一道防线靠女人。女人大胆，大胆却不莽撞，心理战同样优秀：女人柔弱，让人放下防线，被敌一击毙命：女人重情，哪怕只是萍水之交，托付了，接下了，便要并肩作战，绝不会半途离去。将英雄情怀安在女人身上，甚至帅过男人。
